Tuesday 1st of August
This morning I had to go to Tesco's instead of my usual nap, though I fell asleep later with one arm in the air whilst doing my Super Woman impression. Then it was off to nursery, but as my protest was ignored I decided to play happily and eat all my dinner. Yes, the secret is out. I quite like nursery now!
Wednesday 2nd
Karen and Susie visited today and I got the giggles when Susie started dancing and waggling the sunflower at me. After lunch we went to Cheeky Monkeys to play but I fell asleep and missed all the fun! Talk about bad timing!
To my surprise I quite enjoyed Yoga on Thursday, and I even let mummy relax for a bit at the end. I spent the afternoon rearranging my toys in the playroom whilst mummy was busy doing odd jobs. I wonder, what happens to the even jobs?
Friday 4th
I woke up in Granddad's pyjama's (well, not literally of course!), thinking that I was going to have a bad hair day, but fortunately mummy remembered to comb it before we went out to meet Katja and Surita and some other mums and babies. Then I spotted Ursula who obviously has good dress sense as she was wearing my flower baby T-shirt! In the evening I went to my first Shakespeare play in the Downing College gardens. Can't think why mummy and daddy expected me to go to sleep during 'A comedy of errors', having gone all that way to see it!
On Saturday I watched mummy turning lots of food into coloured little ice cubes, which I bet she'll expect me to eat at some point. I hope there's none of those mushy green ones. In the evening we went out again so of course I had another excuse to stay up late, especially when I saw Emily had come to Charlie's barbeque as well! But I must be getting old, after partying for 2 nights in a row I really needed a good lie in.
Luckily Sunday was just a lazy day, though I did get to see Grandma and Gramps on the webcam. As there were no more late night parties to go to I didn't complain too much when it was bedtime.
Monday 7th
I did think going to nursery at 10am was a bit strange until I realised I would be there for the whole day! Oh well, if you can't beat them, join 'em! I had a big lunch, played with the rattles and the other babies, and spent ages playing with the girl in the mirror. After all that I didn't want to go to bed in the evening!
The next day I stayed awake in the morning ready for nursery, but we went to Tesco's instead! Somehow I ended up back at nursery for the afternoon - I don't know whether I'm coming or going! I ate most of the food there, except for all the bits that got stuck on my face and clothes. I have no idea how some of it ended up in my hair though....☺
On Wednesday we searched all over town looking for a bag to put my car seat into for our trip to Switzerland. But the perfect bag was in our garage all along! I went to bed early as the evening was quite boring, what with daddy packing and mummy doing the ironing.
Thursday 10th
Today I had to go to the doctors for my 8 month check up, but I don't know why the doctor asked me to pick up a pen and a small piece of paper when I could almost reach the blood pressure machine instead! I was just so close....! So I was weighed instead, but the scales were lying. Anyway, I must now be nearly the height of a giant, at 69cm.
Then when we were all packed and ready to go to Switzerland all the flights were cancelled. How mean is that! Daddy ended up going back to work and mummy and I went for some retail therapy.
Friday 11th
I had a go at rolling and pulling myself forward in the bathroom, but crawling is just not for me. I had a fun time in the bath though.

On Sunday, when daddy was working in the garden, I had a go at eating a leaf from a plant before mummy could stop me. I probably won't do that again though as it made me throw up and it wasn't very nice anyway.
Another full day at nursery on Monday and I got to play with a treasure box and best of all a mountain of shredded paper that needed some re-arranging.
Wednesday 16th
Mummy told me I was a little star, and I even got a cuddle from Jo, all for just sleeping through mummy having a haircut. I stuffed myself full at lunchtime before getting weighed in the afternoon, and I m now a good 17lb 1oz (7.74kg) - that extra biscuit obviously helped! Then mummy started packing our suitcase again.
Thursday 17th
We finally made it to the airport this time! Of course, I couldn't go to sleep on the plane as it was only my third flight, but I was quite well behaved considering how much there was to see. When we arrived I had lots of smiles for Judith & Charly and I just had a quick powernap in the car before seeing petit Oma. I kept waking up in the night though - it must be my teeth but I've still got nothing to show for all that pain!
Friday 18th
Petit Oma played with me in the morning as mummy and daddy were a bit groggy, and then we had a walk around Trelex.
Ok, so my first piano lesson
wasn't entirely a success.... |
...and some of the sight seeing passed me by... |
....but don't I look cool in these! |
In the evening we went to Judith's for dinner and I woke up just in time for some more cuddles. All the fresh air made me sleep a bit better too.
On Saturday we all had lunch in Nyon and petit Oma gave me my first ice cream to try. Next time mummy asks me what I want for dinner I'll know what to say! In the afternoon we went on a boat trip across Lake Geneva to Yvoire in France for a walk around the medieval village and my first taste of daddy's beer!
Well, I like anything that I'm not allowed to have so imagine my delight when we went to a cocktail bar in Geneva! After such a big adventure I was really tired and eventually fell asleep at Judith's for dinner. The next morning I woke up a bit early for mummy and daddy so petit Oma entertained me for a while...
Here's petit Oma showing me a new card trick... |
...and for the main event, the complete teddy bear and lion puppet show! |
Later on the Sunday we went to Montreaux for lunch but stopped on the way for a drink at the deck, which had a fantastic view of the lake and mountains. Why don't we have them at home? But soon we had to go and fly back home. I slept all the way - I just loooooove flying!
Monday 21st
I didn't have to go to nursery today (ahhhhh) because I had some spots on my forehead and arms. The doctor didn't have a clue, so it was nothing to worry about (but she didn't know about the ice cream, beer, cocktails, and all my big adventures!). In the afternoon I added to my dinky spots by getting completely covered in blueberry and peach!
On Tuesday we went across the road to MJ's, where Georgie gave me lots of cuddles and I ate some of my moon biscuit. I am not sure where the rest of it went! Finally it was back to nursery but really, it is just not the same as travelling around the world.
Wednesday 23rd
Today was mummy & daddy's 4th wedding anniversary, so we all went out for the day to Bury St. Edmunds for a nice walk and a lunch at Cafe Rouge. I wasn't very hungry but charmed everyone as usual with a smile. Then it poured with rain and we rushed home. In the evening I was dropped off at Emily's so we could play instead of going to sleep!
On Thursday, just as I start to enjoy Yoga, mummy tells me it is the last session ever. Then on Friday daddy came home with a new camera and made me bounce around for ages whilst he was figuring out how to take pictures with it. I never posed for so many photos before!
Saturday 26th
As it was going to be a rainy day we went into town for lunch. Afterwards I learned to throw the ball back to daddy (instead of just keeping it, which is fine so long as he keeps throwing it back to me), and mummy figured out that I am getting quite ticklish!
On Sunday we went out to a nearby park so daddy could take yet more photos. Only I fell asleep and he didn't bring the camera manual, so most of this trip will remain a secret.
Afterwards I went to a pub by the river to put my feet up and have a rice biscuit.... | ||||
ZZZzzz... | Ooh, a flower. Can I eat it? | now where's my cocktail.. |
Monday 28th
In the morning I showed mummy and daddy how I can clap my hands together, so I could give myself some applause since I'm nine months old today! I decided there's no point going to sleep during the day when you're nine months old, even though mummy and daddy took it in turns to rock me in my pushchair.
On Tuesday it was back to nursery and I finally had to give in to their demands for me to drink their milk. But, I made my first drawing! I think they've added it to their drawing collection so I can't show you my masterpiece.
I have not been going to sleep so easily the last few nights, but now I am dreaming of our next holiday....
