1st July 2006
Today was a day of 2 halves. Cool as a cucumber for Daddy in the morning, and fussy like a fusspot for mummy in the afternoon. And I was definitely not sleepy like a snoring thing at 7pm, so I stayed awake until 9.30pm which I want as my new bedtime.
Sunday 2nd
Today lots of people came round to entertain me and give me lots of cuddles, but after being left alone at nursery I daren't let mummy out of my sight. Daddy was busy with the barbeque and Martina tried to get me to play with Emily but I just wanted to be carried about so I could see what everybody was doing.
Monday 3rd
Something was definitely up today, I mean, how can you have a Monday without a trip to Tesco's? And Daddy stayed at home too, but not to do all the cleaning up after the barbeque! We all went to the nursery in the afternoon, where after an hour I realised what this was all about as Mummy didn't come back like before. In fact they left me for nearly 4 hours, which is a lot of screaming, even for me, so I had a little nap to recharge my lungs. And I only want to eat what mummy has made, so I waited until mummy came back.
The next day I thought things were back to normal as we went to the Orchard again, but oh no, I ended up back at the nursery all by myself. What have I done to deserve this?! I got bored of screaming after 20 minutes, so decided to calm down and watch the other babies, and I let them drive me around in the pushchair. But I am still not going to eat whatever it is they serve here.
Wednesday 5th
I needed a lie in after waking at 2am and 5am. Then we went into town to meet some friends for a cuddle. After that we went to get weighed, but I got overexcited and I managed to wee all over mummy's clothes! She had to get changed but the shock of having lost weight again made me throw up all over mummy's new clothes. I must rethink my hunger strike strategy. I'm now in the featherweight division at 16lb 1oz (7.3kg).
It must sound like I'm always grumpy, but on Thursday I was just a bit fussy. I was fussy about Yoga, fussy about lunch but absolutely not fussy about being held by mummy. I was less fussy after a nap, and got through most of my swimming lesson before I had to get fussy again so mummy would hold me. At night the smoke alarm went off in sympathy with a nearby storm that passed at 4am, and again at 6am. So I overslept and completely missed our baby massage session on Friday. Then I wasn't allowed to go to singing as mummy needed a hair cut. Well, I was more than fussy about that! It took both Jo and Stef to calm me down but I did fall asleep in the end...
Saturday 8th
We went to see Karen, Andy & Susie for Caitlin's birthday party. There were lots of children there which reminded me of nursery, so I decided to hang onto mummy. But I did see Caitlin's present, a cool Wendy house in the garden! When can I have one?!
Sunday 9th
Daddy had to look after me for the whole day as mummy went off to get pampered. I knew this would be fun as I was bound to get whatever I wanted to stay quiet. We played with all my toys, and I had a good bounce whilst daddy taught me how to do the high-5's. I slept a lot too but wasn't sure whether mummy had made the food he was trying to feed me, so I was glad dad remembered to give me some milk instead! I smiled all day and did 3 poo's to keep dad busy. I even tried to say DADA but that probably needs more practice!
Monday had the usual mix of Tesco's and the Oh No Not Nursery! I still don't trust their food but I can cope with being pushed around in the pushchair. Tuesday started quietly whilst mummy got things ready for our holiday to visit Oma in Holland. Then I did some more screaming at the Oh No Not Nursery so I was really starving when I got home. Had a great time in the bath with my new fish that spins in the water.
Wednesday 12th
Today we travelled to Holland, but first I had to learn to fly. So I was really good at the airport, and smiled at the security and passport control to make sure they wouldn't look at my passport photo too closely! As a VIP I was allowed on first, but the aeroplane made my ears hurt. (My screaming probably hurt the ears of everyone around me!). I hope I get better at flying before we go back!
Then we went on a train and we met Oma at the other end, so I got lots of cuddles and very nice presents - I love my new socks and miffy the rabbit! Leen came to visit the next morning and gave me cool t-shirt with a stripy worm that comes off for easier chewing. Later I went for a walk with Oma so mummy and daddy could see the Panorama Mesdag, a big round painting of Scheveningen.
Oma told me she had a new name for me: "Lekker Ding". I hope that doesn't mean I'm edible!
Friday 14th On Friday we went shopping as I needed more 'stuff', and then we went to Madurodam where we could see the whole of Holland in miniature. I was bigger than the aeroplanes, houses and boats! Which is why I can't understand why the ice cream was so huge! Then we had a really nice dinner at Leen's. |

I hope she
doesn't moan as |
Hey, it says
here aeroplanes |
I'm not sure I can eat a whole one! |
I got grumpy when I was bored with my toys, so we had to go home. Ha, I always get my Zin! (my way)
Saturday 15th Today we had a lovely walk in the rose garden, and as it was a scorcher we also went to the beach at Scheveningen. I finally got my chance to try out the seawater! But when it came to dipping my toes in I couldn't see my favourite yellow bath duck anywhere and I'm not going in alone. Well, that's my line and I'm sticking to it. Then we had a lovely meal on the beach and I amazed mummy by crying for more food at tea time, especially as it was that orange stuff. I don't normally do orange stuff. |
|
What to have... Beer or plain water. Hmmm. Ok, I want the one I can't reach! |
Sunday 16th
Today mummy had to pack all my stuff whilst daddy was playing on the computer. Fixing something, he said. But we had a really nice lunch by the lake before Oma took us back to the airport where I said bye bye. I was glad our airplane looked a bit bigger than the one in Madurodam. And I was a big girl on the plane right up to when we landed, but then I couldn't hold it in any longer!
Monday 17th
Life is back to normal, because in the morning we went to ...... (you know the one). I immediately knew what was coming next, a trip to the Oh No Not ...... (yeah, that's it). But after a few hours of screaming practice, I finally gave in to the ladies trying to feed me. And I'll admit to playing with the other babies for a short while, but only because someone was holding me so that's ok. I screamed at mummy for bit, then all was forgiven.
Tuesday started well, as I ate all my porridge and a yoghurt. I even fell asleep for a bit but then I woke up just before I threw up my entire stomach contents all over my clothes and the pushchair. See, this is why I didn't want to eat at nursery! I would say I told you so, only I can't talk yet. Mummy didn't know where to start cleaning up as I threw up some more over mummy and the sofa. I decided to hang on tightly to mummy in case it happened again, and this way I didn't have to go to the Oh No Not Nursery!
Thursday 20th
I was feeling a lot better yesterday, even though it was the hottest day ever since I was born. But I still made mummy carry me for most of Yoga today, and lunch had to be abandoned for too much whinging. In the afternoon was my last swimming lesson of the term, so I had some free play with balls & mirrors, then I did one last underwater swim to mummy. Now I'm a qualified Angel Fish and I've got a SWIMMING CERTIFICATE to prove it! Yippeee!
Friday 21st
I only managed 10 minutes of baby massage before grumpiness set in. The only cure was for mummy to hold me tight. A little nap later helped as well so I had a real hoot at baby crotchets, shaking my maracas and waving at everything. Fridays will never be the same now that both have finished.
That evening I went to sleep in the car and when I woke up we were in
Harrogate to see Grandma and Gramps. Kerry and Sam came round on Saturday morning so we chewed on some toys together, but there were so many in the box I couldn't try them all out. Later on Gramps, Daddy & Richard took us out for a walk whilst mummy and Kerry went shopping. In the evening Grandma and Gramps looked after me whilst mummy and daddy went out with Kerry to get drenched at some open air concert. |

And I

Try this one, it's much tastier! |
Sunday
23rd It was another sunny day today, so we had a barbeque when Avril, Richard, James, John and Jen came over. I got lots of attention and cuddles, which is how I like it! I also played with Sam in the paddling pool, and I tried to sit on his car but he got a bit upset about that. I had a sleep at the bottom of the garden but I hate it when I miss out on all the action, so it was just a quick power nap. Then, as if by magic, the transporter was loaded up again and I woke up back at home just in time for my dinner and a good night's sleep. |
|
Hey
John, can I have |
I tried to pull a sickie so I wouldn't have to go to nursery today, by throwing up all of my breakfast. Well, at least it got me out of going to Tesco's but as I didn't do the same again for lunch mummy sent me to the Oh No Not Nursery after all! Whilst there I decided to give their food another chance. On Tuesday I was back at nursery but I couldn't let on that I might actually be starting to like it a bit so I switched to grumpy mode when mummy came to pick me up. Mummy was grumpy too from feeling ill so we made a right pair together.
I have been eating lots of new coloured stuff. I'm working my way through the Heinz colour collection (they do a mean sweet potato and carrot), and mummy has been pureeing everything, like cantaloupe, avocado and my first taste of chicken!
I'll try anything, even rice biscuits... |
...hmm, this would be easier with teeth! |
I've now slept through the night 4 nights in row, a new world record for me. Mummy was still feeling ill so we missed Yoga, but I went to get weighed in the afternoon. I've gone up to 16lb 9oz (7.5kg), but I missed my target of 8kg by a mountain of rice biscuits. Afterwards we went to Tesco's. I missed the place, really.
That evening we had a really big thunderstorm, and a power cut, but fortunately daddy came home early. I had a great time in the bath as my collection of bath chums steadily grows.
Friday 28th
I can't believe I'm 8 months old today!!! We went to visit Clair, Aaron & Sam along the road, who had a giant paddling pool with water. I really liked it when Sam tried to soak mummy! Aaron is trying to crawl, but I'm not sure I can be bothered with that as I hate being on my front. I might just wait till I can walk....
