The Diary of Isla Louise Herczog

Wednesday March 1st

I think I've caught Monsteritus. Apparently it also makes you grow extra ears, but I'm sure that's rubbish! I don't know what all the fuss is about. Anyway, today was a day for ladies that do lunches, so we met with Suzanne & Jamie, then to Kerry's and on to Margaret & Terry for coffee. After Mummy and Grandma gave me a bath in the evening I just needed 1/2 an hour's sleep, then I was fine again. Somehow though I got the feeling that that wasn't part of the plan. Neither was waking up every hour after that...

As if catching Monsteritus wasn't bad enough, on Thursday I also caught my first cold. For such a small nose it excelled itself in snot production. All that sneezing got very annoying too, so Grandma and Gramps were very brave to look after me that evening as mummy went out!

Friday 3rd

Mummy slept until 10.30 again, then I fell asleep as we went round Morrison's shopping. I don't know why mummy doesn't do the same when she's tired?! It's really easy see, I did it again in the afternoon as Grandma and mummy bought me lots of summer clothes. There was loads of snow later but I wasn't allowed to play in it. So I had to make do with my white pillows and a collection of furry friends crawling all over me.

  Saturday 4th

Gramps drove us back to Cambridge today which was very nice of him. Then I took care of the screaming soundtrack whilst Gramps & mummy had their dinner and tried to watch the telly.

Sunday 5th

Today we met up with Karen, Susie and Caitlin at cheeky Monkeys (who are they calling a cheeky monkey?) but apparently I've got to learn to walk first before I can run around in there. I had another good evening scream (gotta keep practising!), but then Daddy came back. (mummy said luckily for him he'd brought us back some presents!) Yippee!

Hey Gramps, I'm supposed to be one falling asleep here...

On Monday, Mummy was knackered again, so we had a lazy day.

Tuesday 7th

I think I've been screaming too much, as mummy took me to see the nurse again. I'm sure sticking 2 big needles in me was really so not necessary! We went into town the next day but too late to go to the big scream cinema (ok, ok, probably my fault but honestly, mummy is just so slow...), so we did some shopping for Emily's 1'st birthday present.

Thursday 9th

I had a great morning at mummy and Isla Yoga, there was lots of singing, flapping my legs about and getting launched like a rocket. Then we went for my 3 month check and I am now 13lbs (5.9kg) exactly, and a mighty 62cm long.

Look Dad, we can't all fit in this bath...

I'm too sexy for my towel, too sexy for my towel...

Why does everything I own have ears??

Friday 10th

Daddy disappeared off very early today to go on Charlie's stag do in Prague. I can't believe I missed him leaving as I'm usually awake at that time! On the Saturday we had planned to go for a walk, but it snowed! We had to take my books back (I can't remember what they were about but the new ones look nice).

On Sunday I went on my first hen do! Fortunately those devil horns aren't a permanent fixture (yet). We had a nice lunch with Sarah and Heather, but Dad called to say he was stuck in Prague due to snow. So I made sure I was awake when he got home at 4.30am!

Monday 13th

Today I had my first giggle. Dad was making silly faces and once I'd started, I couldn't stop. Except when mummy said to get the video camera, I'm just not ready for that yet. Mummy's got the flu (maybe she needs to see that nurse with the big needles?!). Exploding nappies aside, I've been pretty good during the day.

On Wednesday mummy bought a hat for Heather's wedding, and a load of bake ware (as you do). Where she'll find the time to use all that with me around is anyone's guess.

Friday 17th

This time I had to scream for ages at 6am before Daddy finally came to see what I wanted. You just can't get the staff these days. Only 4 hours later we made it into mummy's work for some cuddles, and I really must be cute 'cos everyone says so.

Sunday 19th

We finally met up with Paul, Martina & Emily today to give Emily her 1st birthday present, and Martina signed my passport forms. I already don't look like the passport picture anymore!

On Monday we went shopping and then over the road to the twins birthday party. I saved my pickle-Isla time for when we came back. But, I did discover I can play with my foot, and I've got two of them for double the fun! I also found that I can lean over on my side to reach Daddy's shirt when he's trying to change my nappy.

I really don't like not being able to see much during dinner time, so I made it clear that I wanted to be closer to where all the action was. Now I'm queen of the dinner table in my bumbo chair... move me and I'll scream!

Friday 24th

After more shopping and Yoga earlier in the week, Naomi came over for some afternoon cake and a cuppa. Didn't get any myself though. But then Gramps arrived in the evening to baby sit for me on Saturday.

Saturday 25th

Mummy and Daddy went to Charlie and Heather's wedding today, whilst I was home alone with Gramps! I tried to keep him busy but Gramps was coping fine! Then Daddy looked after me during the night, I think mummy must have been out for the count!

Sunday 26th

As it was mother's day today I gave mummy a card and took her and Gramps out to lunch in Grantchester (with the help of my able assistant!). Later on Daddy and Gramps went to the airport to pick up Barbara and Dorothy from Australia. I was given some really cool furry booties and of course I got lots of cuddles.

Monday 27th

Mummy had a lie in, then everyone left at about midday. But not before I had a go in my bouncer from Sam, which is really cool. I'm sure mummy will be happy to leave me bouncing around for a while!

Wednesday 29th

It was lucky that daddy had an off-site meeting today, so he could get up late and help me get ready on time for the big scream cinema! But wouldn't you just know it, the film was about gay cowboys and not really my cuppa tea, so I had some milk and nodded off.

Got myself weighed again on Thursday (I could've told you I would be heavier than last time, now 13lbs 15oz [6.32kg]), but I didn't like the health visitor who said to leave me screaming for my next feed till 3 hours had gone. I might just have to sort out my sleeping pattern.

Friday 31st

Another trip to the nurse today, but fortunately no sign of the big needles as it was just a check up for mummy. Then we played lots of games, and I charmed the gas man who came to service our boiler. It's all in the smile...
