Thursday 2nd of November, 2006
I knew my next adventure was about to begin when Daddy came home from work at lunch time. At the airport I saw that the man at the security check was about to steal my food from mummy's bag so I put on a big smile and he let us go through (he'd probably heard what I'm like when I get angry!). Then we had to wait for ages so I made daddy walk around the airport whilst I held onto him.
We finally got to Oma's place late in the evening and I was really tired but who wants to go to bed when you get presents and there is so much to see?! I didn't sleep so great from all the excitement but I was wide awake when Gerry came to visit and I had someone else who would walk with me. Sorry dad!
Later on in the afternoon we went to visit Leen where I got to ride on his back and he made me laugh a lot.
Saturday 4th In the morning we went out shopping and mummy found me a new hat, but I refuse to wear it outdoors! We took it easy for the rest of the day whilst daddy had a go at fixing Oma's computer (again), until we went out for the family reunion meal. There I had great fun playing with Robin and my new butterfly toy, though I was very hot and I think my second tooth was working its way up which was really starting to annoy me. I stayed up for as long as I could but eventually gave in and fell asleep on the way home. |

It's a hat Jim, but not as we know it! |
On Sunday we had an early flight back home, but not before that second tooth finally made an appearance!
Monday 6th
Well, instead of getting injections for diseases I've never heard of, there should be an injection to protect against the shock of going back to nursery after a holiday because I ended up being sent home early with a temperature. Daddy tried to work from home the next morning whilst looking after me, but I don't think he got much work done. I was still a bit groggy on Wednesday when I had to get weighed, tipping the scales at a grand total of 19lb 8oz (8.86kg). Later on we went for a swimming photo shoot but it is not easy to smile under water, especially when you feel yuk!
On Thursday I had to go to nursery again because mummy wanted to get some work done. But by Friday I was throwing up from both ends again. Daddy was probably glad that he was not coming back from Taiwan till tomorrow!
Saturday 11th
I was definitely feeling a lot better today. Mummy measured my height which came to 75cm. I'm not sure that I am still on target for my original estimate of 6 metres, though at 25cm per year I might still make 5 metres by the time I am twenty.
On Sunday we went to Jasmine and Ursula's birthday party. It was just like having my own party with so many new toys to play with, and eating lots of cake (I just love birthday cake! - why did I not discover this earlier?!), except of course I couldn't take the toys home!
I would say another week just flew by, except I accidentally threw up all over my bed on Wednesday night. So I had to sleep on the floor but it wasn't a complete disaster as I ended up sleeping next to mummy for the first half of the night, and then next to daddy. It didn't get me out of going to nursery the next day though!
Saturday 18th
Now that I know the hand sign for 'more' I decided to try it out on mummy and daddy, just as I had munched my way through a huge breadstick. Amazingly, it worked first time! As if by magic, another breadstick appeared before me. Of course, you can get too much of a good thing so I was lucky that when I tried it again, mummy gave me a really nice biscuit. I was a bit worried though about under-age biscuit eating as they were meant for 12months and older. Later on we went out for some fresh air and a go on the swing (well, it was just me on the swing as mummy and daddy don't fit in anymore).
Oh, I forgot to show you my latest compositions:
Stripy
lines or Fireworks: |
Not sure why my hand sometimes only has 4 fingers |
This is my messiest painting yet! |
Sorry, but I've never seen fireworks myself so I have no idea if it looks like the real thing or not!

Well, by the end of the week I was
exhausted but all that was soon forgotten when Gramps, Grandma, Kerry, Richard
and Sam arrived on Friday! And I got an even bigger surprise when Sam jumped all
naked into the bath with me! Of course we played with all my toys but in
the end we were told to get out of the bath. Sam drove around on my push car and I really didn't want to go to bed. But I didn't seem to have a choice in the matter and milk always makes me feel drowsy, so in the end I decided not to put up a fight. I do now like to sleep on my tummy though, but it takes me a while to get really comfortable. When I next woke for my midnight snack I had to wait for ages, I think daddy was watching some film or something! |
"Hey, keep
the noise |
Saturday 25th
I got all excited because I saw balloons everywhere, and lots of banners saying "Happy Birthday". Luckily mummy had remembered to invite lots of people for my party, but it seemed like I had to wait for ages for everyone to arrive!
Fortunately, Karen, Andy, Susie and Caitlin arrived early... |
...and I was having a lot of fun... |
...and the presents just kept coming... |
First, I just had to take all the wooden blocks out of the box |
Beep Beep, I'm coming through! | Wow, this paper is really nice! |
And no way was I going to have a nap, there was already not enough time to play with Lucas, Jasmine, Ursula, William and Sam.
...then I got
the coolest |
Then there were lots of snacks and booze for everyone... |
...and I
spent a lot of the time |
...ooops, I think I've stalled it |
Hey, a whole birthday cake just for me! |
I could go on all day like this |
Sunday 26th
I didn't want my party to end last night, but I needn't have worried - Christmas had come early and there were loads more presents to unwrap! I need a bigger room for all my toys.
Monday 27th
I remember now that this time last year I was getting all nervous about making my appearance, and getting squished about until I had no choice but to come out!
Tuesday 28th
Then exactly 1 year ago today I finally showed up so now I am really 1 year old! In that time I've learned to eat lots of coloured stuff instead of just boring milk, splash about in my bath and in the pool, bounce around in my bouncer, walk whilst holding on to everyone and babble for England, but I still can't get the hang of sleeping through the night!
I hope you've enjoyed my diary. I don't know yet what I am going to get up to next year, but I'll try and let you know about my big adventures!
