The Diary of Isla Louise Herczog

Thursday 31st August

Well, I figured there was something up when I mummy and daddy wake me up at 4am. Waking people up at that time was supposed to be my prerogative! As soon as we got to the airport I knew my luck was in with another holiday adventure to come. And of course I am so good at flying now that I can do it with my eyes closed. It was a scorcher when we arrived in Portugal but luckily I was able to make straight for the paddling pool.

I was quite surprised that even though we were supposed to be on holiday, we still had to go to what looked like Tesco's!

We had such a busy time that I've written a short story board of my adventure.

Hey dad, I'm surrounded by
sharks!

Friday 1st September

I swam every day whilst mummy
kept an eye on me...
...whereas daddy and I just goofed around... ...and I wasn't naughty at all

Saturday 2nd/Sunday 3rd

Stuck in the shade but oh no I have to keep my hat on. That Sam just cracks me up! You cannot be serious! You want me to eat that?!

Monday 4th/Tuesday 5th

People started looking at me when I got a bit too excited by the show!

Hey Sam, see if you can reach that pint!

I know, I know, it's a hard life...

Wednesday 6th/Thursday 7th

The streets in Silves were so steep I had to hang on for dear life!

My very own waterbed with outboard motor...

Of course, I still have to do some things myself!

Saturday 9th

Well, I brought a few mosquito bites home as souvenirs.

On the Friday we just relaxed some more until Grandma and Gramps stopped by on Saturday. We had a barbeque outside which was just like in Portugal. Only there was no pool. And it wasn't as warm. But apart from that, it was just like Portugal.

I had a great time riding on Gramps' back, only he wasn't fast enough!

On Sunday we just lazed around and I played in my pool of balls.

I think mummy was worried about going back to work, but that's nothing - I have 4 days of nursery to deal with!

Yee haaa! Come on, go Gramps, go!

Monday 11th - Thursday 14th

Well, today is my first day back at nursery, and the work has just piled up. I can see I'm going to be kept mega busy all week! But the first day I just showed off my tan and collection of mosquito bites. After that I got to do some painting so I can finally show you my masterpieces.

On the left is my study on autumn leaves, applying the traditional technique of paint slapping.

On the right is my colour collage, made from carefully placed bits of cardboard.

My tissue paper sticking ensemble probably needs a bit of work, but I blame my assistant.

I used a spikey ball to draw an amazing scene. All you have to do is join up the dots...

The hand print painting was the most messy and therefore my favourite.

On Thursday Grandma and Gramps came back from buying me some presents, I got a nice sheep and a cool new telephone. Weird thing is, every time I try to dial a number the phone starts to ring! (but it's got more ring tones than daddy's phone!)

Saturday 16th

Today we went to Bury St. Edmunds for a walk and some lunch. In the evening we all went out to Browns restaurant to celebrate Grandma and Gramps' wedding anniversary. Afterwards I let everyone watch TV whilst I slept. But on Sunday it was time for Grandma and Gramps to go home again.

Saturday 23rd

Another week has gone by at nursery, working on my paintings and loads of other stuff. I've definitely improved my paper tissue sticking skills this week, even if I say so myself.

Monday 25th

Well, I think I might have succumbed to the plague pit (a.k.a nursery), and caught some really really annoying bug. Mummy had to come and rescue me but she was also coughing! I'm feeling really tired, and all that snot isn't a pretty sight, but I'm glad I don't have to go to nursery for a bit. My paintings can wait.

Friday 29th

I've been feeling miserable all week, but it was nice to go to singing today. At least it got me out of the house. On Saturday daddy took me shopping for mummy's birthday presents, though I don't think I was much help.

I was just glad to get home so mummy and daddy could give me loads of cuddles.
